Personalised learning environments to foster social media literacy, digital citizenship, and connected learning
Issues such as cyberbullying , sexting, and student access to inappropriate content are important areas of understanding for teachers, administrators, children, adolescents, and parents. This day-long session will outline many of the important issues that face our schools in an era where access to information is ubiquitous, and digital messages are easily spread. More importantly, the presentation will provide strategies for dealing with and understanding such issues in the positive framework of developing and taking control of digital identities.
Why school should be like a family restaurant George & Alec
This session will build upon the family experience that George and Alec had as children growing up in a small town in Canada, and show how what they had learned from their Greek immigrant parents are lessons that we can easily implement into our schools
Thursday 10 November:
Learning and Leading conversations
with George Couros
Collaborate. Create. Learn. Creating Transformative Schools
In this full day session, George will share some of the work that is happening within his own school to create a true “learning organization”, while also building leadership at all levels. Many of the ideas that are shared on this day will be to inspire the leadership opportunities that are available in this “digital age” that can be used in organizations, schools, and in the classroom. This will be an active session with ideas being shared, and participants being actively involved in the discussion, while sharing their own ideas.
Participants will discuss the ways that we can collaborate, create, and learn in an environment where we are all pursuing our passions, sharing our strengths, and creating great organisations
Cool Tool Duel- George & Alec
Alec and George will share some of their favourite tools, and show how they implement them into their own practice. We will also push participants to share some of their own ideas.
